The angle of elevation of a tower at a point is \[45{}^\circ .\] After going 40 m towards the foot of the tower, the angle of elevation of the tower becomes \[60{}^\circ .\] Find the height of the tower.

    A)  \[\frac{40\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}+1}\]

    B)  \[40\sqrt{3}\,\,m\]

    C)   \[\frac{40\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}-1}\,\,m\]

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Tricky Approach Here,     \[h=?,\] \[x=40\]             \[{{\theta }_{1}}=60{}^\circ ,\] \[{{\theta }_{2}}=45{}^\circ \] \[\therefore \]      \[h=\frac{40}{\cot 45{}^\circ -\cot 60{}^\circ }\]             \[=\frac{40}{1-\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}}=\frac{40\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}-1}\] \[\therefore \]      \[h=\frac{40\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}-1}\,m\]
