Annual incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4 : 3 and their annual expenses are in the ratio 3 : 2. If each of them saves Rs. 600 at the end of the year, what is the annual income of A?

    A)  Rs. 1200

    B)  Rs. 2400

    C)  Rs. 4800

    D)  Rs. 1800

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the incomes of A and B be Rs. 4x and Rs. 3x respectively and their expenses be Rs. 3y and Rs. 2y respectively. Savings of \[A=4x-3y\] and savings of \[B=3x-2y\] Since, the savings of each is same. \[\therefore \]      \[4x-3y=3x-2y\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=y\] But       \[~4x-3y=600\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[4x-3x\text{ }=600~\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[~~x=600\] \[\therefore \] Income of \[A=600\times 4=\text{Rs}\text{.}\,2400\]
