The ratio of incomes of P and Q is 3 : 4 and the ratio of their expenditures is 2 : 3. If both of them save Rs. 6000, the income of P is

    A) Rs. 20000

    B) Rs. 12000

    C) Rs. 18000

    D) Rs. 24000

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Let the income of P and Q are Rs. 3x and Rs. 4x and expenditures of P and Q are Rs. 2y and Rs. 3y respectively. \[\therefore \]      \[3x-2x=6000\]                          ?(i) and       \[4x-3y=6000\]                          ?(ii) On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get \[x=6000\] and \[y=6000\] \[\therefore \] Income of \[P=Rs.3\times 6000\]             \[=Rs.18000\]
