    Solution :

    Let the labelled price \[=Rs.\,x\] According to question,             \[5%\,\,\text{of}\,\,x=500\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{500\times 100}{5}=10000\] \[\therefore \]      Cost price \[=\frac{10000\times 80}{100}\]                            \[=Rs.\,8000\]
