How many bullets can be made out of a lead cylinder 56 cm high having a radius of 6 cm, each bullet being 1.5 cm in diameter?

    A) 4000

    B) 3584

    C) 3592

    D) 5200

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Volume of the cylinder \[=\pi {{r}^{2}}h\] \[=\pi \times 6\times 6\times 56\] \[=(36\pi \times 56)\,c{{m}^{3}}\]         Volume of 1 bullet \[=\frac{4}{2}\pi {{r}^{3}}\]             \[=\frac{4}{2}\times \pi \times \frac{3}{4}\times \frac{3}{4}\times \frac{3}{4}\]             \[=\left( \frac{9}{16}\pi  \right)\,c{{m}^{3}}\] \[\therefore \] Number of bullets \[\text{=}\frac{\text{Volume of the cylinder}}{\text{Volume of 1 bullet}}\]        \[=\frac{36\pi \times 56\times 16}{9\,\pi }=3584\]
