    Number of failure boys\[=40%\text{ of}\,\,640\]             \[=\frac{40\times 640}{100}=256\] and number of failure girls \[=20%\text{ of}\,\,360\]             \[=\frac{20\times 360}{100}=72\] Total number of failure students \[=256+72\]             \[=328\] and total number of students \[=640+360\]             \[=1000\] \[\therefore \]      Percentage of failures \[=\frac{328}{1000}\times 100%\]             \[=32.8%\]
