    The ratio of the radii of the taps \[{{T}_{1}}\] and \[{{T}_{2}}\] is 2 : 1. Water is flowing through them with the same velocity. What is ratio of the time required to completely fill two identical drums kept \[{{T}_{2}}\] under  and \[{{T}_{2}}\] ?

    A) 2 : 1                 

    B) 1 : 2

    C) 4 : 1                             

    D) 1 : 4

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Given, \[\frac{{{r}_{1}}}{{{r}_{2}}}=\frac{2}{1}\] \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{\text{Area of drum Ist }\!\!~\!\!\text{  }\!\!~\!\!\text{ }}{\text{Area of drum IInd}}=\frac{\pi r_{1}^{2}}{\pi r_{2}^{2}}=\frac{4}{1}\] But times taken will be inversely proportional to the area, therefore required ratio is 1 : 4.
