    Solution :

    Let the age of first brother \[=8x\,yr\] and age of second brother \[=5x\,yr\] According to question, 8x = 4 yr 8 months \[\Rightarrow \]   \[8x=4\frac{8}{12}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{56}{12\times 8}=\frac{7}{12}\] \[\therefore \] Age of younger brother \[=5x=5\times \frac{7}{12}\]                                       \[=\frac{35}{12}=2\frac{11}{12}\]   = 2yr 11 months
