  • question_answer
The length of one side of a rhombus is 6.5 cm and its altitude is 10 cm. if the length of the its diagonals be 26 cm, the length of the other diagonal will be

    A)  5 cm

    B)  10 cm

    C)  6.5 cm

    D)  26 cm

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    We know that if all the sides of a parallelogram are equal, it is called a rhombus. Area = Base \[\times \] Height             \[6.5\times 10=65\,\,c{{m}^{2}}cm.\] Let the diagonals of the rhombus be \[{{d}_{1}}\] and \[{{d}_{2}}.\] \[\therefore \]      Area \[=\frac{1}{2}{{d}_{1}}{{d}_{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[65=\frac{1}{2}\times 26\times {{d}_{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[{{d}_{2}}=\frac{2\times 65}{26}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[{{d}_{2}}=5\] Hence, other diagonal of rhombus = 5 cm
