    Solution :

    Let a and b be the length and breadth of rectangle. \[\therefore \] Area of rectangle, \[{{A}_{1}}=a\times b\] New length \[=\frac{a}{2}\] and new breadth = 3b \[\therefore \] Area of rectangle, \[{{A}_{2}}=\frac{3}{2}ab\] Change \[=\frac{1}{2}ab\] Per cent change \[=\frac{2}{ab}\times 100%=50%\]
