The sum of 5% of a number and 4% of other number is \[\frac{2}{3}\] of the sum of 6% of the first number and 8% of second. The ratio of the first number to the second is

    A)  2 : 3

    B)  3 : 2

    C)  3 : 4

    D)  4 : 3

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Let the  first number \[=x\] and the second number \[=y\] According to question, 5% of x + 4% of \[y=\frac{2}{3}\] (6% of x + 8% of y) \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3(5x+4y)=2(6x+8y)\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[15x+12y=12x+16y\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x=4y\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{x}{y}=\frac{4}{3}\]
