    Solution :

    Work done by 8 men in 6 days \[=\frac{6}{12}=\frac{1}{2}\] Remaining work \[=1-\frac{1}{2}=\frac{1}{2}\] 4 more men are engaged. \[\therefore \]      Total number of men \[=8+4\text{ }=12\] By work and time formula, \[\frac{{{W}_{1}}}{{{M}_{1}}{{D}_{1}}}=\frac{{{W}_{2}}}{{{M}_{2}}{{D}_{2}}},\] we have \[\frac{1}{8\times 12}=\frac{\begin{matrix}    1  \\    2  \\ \end{matrix}}{12\times {{D}_{2}}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[{{D}_{2}}=\frac{1}{2}\times \frac{8\times 12}{12}\] \[=4\,days\]
