If a pole 24 metre height cast a shadow of 8 V3 metre long on the ground, then the sun's angle of elevation at that instant is -

Solution :

  Let AB is the height of pole and BC is the length of shadow. \[\therefore \,\,\,\,\tan \theta =\frac{AB}{BC}=\frac{24}{8\sqrt{3}}=\sqrt{3}\,\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,\,\theta =60{}^\circ \] So, elevation angle of Sun \[=60{}^\circ \]
