    A)  \[400\,g\]

    B)  \[500\,g\]

    C)  \[600\,g\]

    D)  \[800\,g\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Mixture of acid and water = 3 kg \[=\,\,\,~3000\text{ }g\] Quantity of acid in mixture \[=\,\,\,\,3000\times \frac{70}{100}=2100\,g\] Quantity of water in mixture \[=\,\,\,\,3000\times \frac{30}{100}=900\,g\] Let x g water should be added \[\frac{2100}{900+x}=\frac{60}{40}=\frac{3}{2}\] \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,2700+3x=4200\] \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,3x=4200-2700=1500\] \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,x=\frac{1500}{3}=500\] The amount of water need to added \[=\,\,\underline{\mathbf{500}\,\mathbf{g}}.\]
