Two trains of length 200 m and 300 m respectively are running in same direction on parallel tracks. If their speed are \[50\text{ }km/hr\]and \[68\text{ }km/hr\]respectively, in what time will they cross each other?

    A)  100 sec.

    B)  150 sec.

    C)  60 sec.

    D)  40 sec.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Length of the first train = 200 m Length of the second train = 300 m Relative speed of the train \[=\,\,\,(68-50)=18\,km/hr\] \[=\,\,\,\,\,18\times \frac{5}{18}=5m.\,/\sec .\] Time taken by trains to cross each other                          \[=\frac{200+300}{5}=\underline{\mathbf{100}\,\mathbf{sec}\mathbf{.}}\]
