  • question_answer
The radii of the bases of two cylinders A and B are in the ratio \[3:2\]and their heights in the ratio\[n:1\]. If the volume of cylinder A is 3 times that that of cylinder B, the value of \[n\]is

    A) \[\frac{4}{3}\]

    B) \[\frac{2}{3}\]

    C) \[\frac{3}{4}\]

    D)        \[\frac{3}{2}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Let the radius of the base of cylinder \[A\] be \[3x\] units and that of cylinder \[B\] be \[2x\] units. Similarly, height of cylinder \[A=ny\] units and that of cylinder \[B\] be \[y\] units. Volume of cylinder\[=\pi {{r}^{2}}h\] According to the question             \[\pi {{(3x)}^{2}}\times ny=3\pi {{(2x)}^{2}}\times y\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[9{{x}^{2}}y.n=12{{x}^{2}}y\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[n=\frac{12}{9}=\frac{4}{3}\]
