  • question_answer
\[\frac{2}{3}\] of the volume of a right circular cone whose height is 21 cm and radius of the base is the radius of the circle of area 154 cm2, is

    A)  727\[\frac{1}{2}\] cm3

    B)  6272 \[\frac{2}{3}\]cm3

    C)  818 \[\frac{1}{2}\] cm3

    D)  718 2 cm3

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

     If the radius of the base of cone be r cm, then \[\pi {{r}^{2}}=154\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{22}{7}\times {{r}^{2}}=154\]                                 \[\Rightarrow \]\[{{r}^{2}}=\frac{154\times 7}{22}=7\times 7\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[r=7\] \[\therefore \]Volume of cone \[=\frac{1}{3}\pi \,\,{{r}^{2}}h\,\,\]                                 \[=\frac{1}{3}\times \frac{22}{7}\times 7\times 7\times 21\] = 1078 cu. cm \[\therefore \frac{2}{3}\times \] Volume of cone                                 \[=\frac{2}{3}\times 1078=\frac{2156}{3}\]                                 \[=718\frac{2}{3}\] cu. Cm
