    Five years ago, the ages of Raju and Rani were in the ratio 1: 10. Today the sum of their ages is 32 years. What will be their ages after 10 years?

    Solution :

     Suppose the present age of Raju = \[x\]years The present age of Rani = y years According to question \[x+y=32~\]                             .....(i) \[\left( x-5 \right):\left( y-5 \right)\]= 1: 10 \[\Rightarrow \frac{(x-y)}{(y-5)}=\frac{1}{10}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[10x-50=y-5\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[10x-y=45\]                          ??.(ii) From equations (i) and (ii) \[x=7\] \[\therefore y=32-7=25\] The age of Raju after 10 years \[=7+10\] = 17 years The age of Rani after 10 years \[=25+10\] = 35 years
