Study the following passage carefully and answer the questions given below:
India remains the second-most populous country after China. After its independence, the country made tremendous progress towards gaining food security. Before the 1960s, India used to rely on imports and foreign aid but after 1966, India adopted policy reforms that enhance self-reliance in food security by promoting domestic production. This has led to India being the world'’s largest producer of many fresh fruits.  It is also the second largest producer of dry fruits, agriculture based textile raw materials, roots, and tuber crops. Though India is the second largest producer of fruit and vegetables in the world, the export of those commodities only constitutes a smaller share of the country’s export.
Why India’s population is compared with China’s counterpart?

    A) Claiming food security is directly proportional to population

    B) Claiming food security is inversely proportional to population

    C) Higher the population makes lower the rate of food security

    D) In spite of being 2nd largest population, India superseded Chine

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The question focuses on the conclusion of the passage with respect to population and food security. The more population requires more consumption which will result in reduced food security. But India has claimed food security in spite of being 2nd largest populous nation. Food security is inversely proportional to population.
