CLAT Sample Paper UG-CLAT Mock Test-11 (2020)

Direction: Study the following passage carefully and answer the questions given below:
To start off we should imagine that either distant future humans or an advanced race of aliens could manufacture code and start a supercomputer that could simulate a whole separate universe. If this is so who is saying that our descendants would not try to do that one day? And more importantly how would we know that we are not currently living in one. This perception is important because it makes people question the very foundations of what they know to be true as it makes people think about how disconnected they are from the real world. If we want a computer simulation to process a human’'s mind down to a perfect detail and for each person in the simulation to truly be their own cognitive person then we need a Substrate-Independent mind. This is the idea that our minds are not limited to only being our brain cells, but that we can transfer our minds or create others to exist in other ways, for our example as a computer program. Of course, this isn’t necessary; the post humans could program a neural network to act just like a human.
What can be concluded from the passage with respect to simulation?

    A) Human can simulate their perceived knowledge into technology

    B) The technology can simulate the human life processes

    C) The super computer is the example of brain simulation

    D) The mind the tool for creating simulation based inventions

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    (a)
    1. Syllogistic reasoning
    2. Conclusion
    3. Degrees of a Characteristic Analogy
The simulation is a process of human mind's perception or experience to be similarly duplicated in technology to a perfect detail. For the simulation to be truly, their own cognition would need a Substrate-Independent mind.
