It contains a large and centrally located nucleus, mitochondria, Golgi bodies, rough endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, fat globules. Besides these soma also contains Nissl's granules or neurofibrils. These are masses of ribosomes and rough endoplasmic reticulum and are engaged in the process of protein synthesis.
