In Haber process 30 L of dihydrogen and 30 L of dinitrogen were taken for reaction which yielded only 50% of the expected product. What will be the composition of gaseous mixture under the aforesaid condition in the end?

    A)                                                                                                                                                                            20L ammonia, 10L nitrogen, 30L hydrogen

    B)                 20L ammonia, 25L nitrogen, 15L hydrogen

    C)                 20L ammonia, 20L nitrogen, 20L hydrogen

    D)                 10L ammonia, 25L nitrogen, 15L hydrogen

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    \[{{N}_{2}}\] \[+\,\,\,3{{H}_{2}}\] \[\xrightarrow{\,}\,2N{{H}_{3}}\]
    1 mol 3 mole 2 mole
    or \[\frac{1}{2}\] mole \[\frac{3}{2}\] mole 1 mole
    or \[10\times \frac{1}{2}=5\] \[10\times \frac{3}{2}\,=15\] \[10\times 1=10\].
Composition of gaseous mixture under the aforesaid condition in the end                 \[{{H}_{2}}=30-15=15\,L\]                 \[{{N}_{2}}=30-5=25\,L\]                 \[N{{H}_{3}}=10\,L\]
