    A)  bacteria

    B)  mycoplasma

    C)  mycorrhiza

    D)  ants.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: Myrmecophily is a symbiotic association between the plants, for eg. Acacia sphaerocephala (a South American Acacia} and ants. Some forms of ants have war like attacking behaviour. They usually abode in hollow, spiny stipules of Acacia which provides perfect shelter to ants. The leaflets from their tips secrete certain food substances for these ants. For food and shelter, the ants act as the body-guard of the plant as they are always ready to meet the challenges of all types of animal attack including man. Similar myrmecophily is also established between mango trees and red ants or litchi and red ants.
