    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

: Miscellaneous forest products includes pectins, resins, gums, latex products, waxes and insecticides. Gums are mostly amorphous colloids and consist largely of degradation products of cellulose or other carbohydrates. They are hydrophilic, forming viscous liquids. They are used in industry as sizing, stiffening agents in ice-cream and stabilisers and binders in medicinal pills. The most common plant gums are : gum arabic, gum tragacanth, gum karaya and cherry gum. Although resembling gums in superficial appearance, resins differ in their origin and chemical composition. Some resins are sticky, viscous liquids, while others are hard, brittle solids, generally clear but sometimes opaque. They seem to be oxidative products of essential oils. Commercial supplies are obtained from plant families such as the fabaceae (congo copal, copaiba balsam, balsam of Peru), dipterocarpaceae (damars) and pinaceae (canada balsam).
