    : In a thermocouple, \[{{T}_{n}}=\frac{{{T}_{c}}-{{T}_{i}}}{2}\] where\[{{T}_{i}}=\]temperature of inversion. \[270=\frac{20+{{T}_{i}}}{2}\] or \[{{T}_{i}}=540-20=520{}^\circ C.\]
