The pulling strength of community waste water is usually characterized by its

    A)  BOD

    B)  CFC

    C)  MIC

    D)  ABS.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

: Strength of sewage or degree of water pollution is measured in terms of BOD (biological oxygen demand) value. BOD may be defined as, number of miligrams of\[{{O}_{2}}\]required for decomposition of one litre of waste or water by decomposing micro-organisms (bacteria). If BOD is below 1500 mg/litre, it indicates weak sewage or less pollution, if it is 1500 - 4000 mg/litre it indicates medium sewage or medium pollution and above this value it indicates strong sewage or high pollution.
