    A)  monandrous

    B)  synandrous

    C)  diclinous

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: Achlamydeous is the condition of a flower lacking a perianth. Monandrous having one antheridium, synandrous having several united stamens and diclinous is unisexual in which male and female organs born on different plants. Spadix, cyathium and hypanthodium all three are achlamydeous. Spadix is a flower spike with a fleshy axis, usually enclosed in a spathe, e.g., Musa, palm etc. Cyathium is an inflorescence consisting of a cuplike cluster of modified leaves enclosing a female flower and several male flowers, as in the poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima ). Hypanthodium is a special type of inflorescence in which main axis forms the fleshy, hollow and pear shaped receptacle with a narrow apical opening guarded by small overlapping bracts. There are large number of flowers borne on the inner side of the hollow receptacle. There are three types of flowers, male, female and gall flowers (sterile flowers), e.g., Ficus.
