AMU Medical AMU Solved Paper-1999

  • question_answer
A certain current passing through a copper voltameter deposits 0.002 kg of copper on cathode plate in 100 minutes. If there are\[{{10}^{25}}\] copper atoms in 1kg of copper, the electric charge delivered to cathode by copper ions\[(C{{u}^{2+}})\]per second will be

    A)  1.06 C

    B)  2.13 C

    C)  0.53 C

    D)  0.71 C

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    : Number of atoms\[=(0.002\times {{10}^{25}})\] \[\therefore \]Charge \[=0.002\times {{10}^{25}}\times 2\times 1.6\times {{10}^{-19}}\] \[\therefore \] \[\frac{charge\text{ }delivered}{second}\] \[=\frac{0.002\times {{10}^{25}}\times 2\times 1.6\times {{10}^{-19}}}{100\times 60}\] = 1.06 C per second
