    Since, work is done by the system, so it is positive. Therefore, \[\Delta W=30\,J\] Heat given to the system, \[\Delta Q=40\,J\] According to first law of thermodynamics, change in internal energy is given by \[\Delta U=\Delta Q-\Delta W\] \[=40-30=10\,J\]
