    Testosterone is secreted by :

    A)  Leydig cells

    B)  Sertoli cells

    C)  Seminiferous tubule

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Testes contains small clusters of endocrine cells called interstitial cells or Leydigs cells, which secrete male sex hormones called androgens. Testosterone is the principal androgen. It stimulates the growth and development of male secondary sex organs like the seminal vesicles, prostate, penis, beard, and moustache. Each testicular lobule of testes contains two to three seminiferous tubules, blood vessels; nerves and connective tissue. Large pyramidal Sertoli or Nurse cells are present in germinal epithelium. Sertoli cells secrete androgen binding protein that concentrates testosterone in the seminiferous tubules.
