    Insectivorous plants grow in

    A)  nitrogen rich soil

    B)  nitrogen deficient soil

    C)  potassium deficient soil

    D)  carbohydrate rich soil

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Insectivorous plants are green and autotrophic. They grow in nitrogen deficient soil. They behave like heterotrophic organisms i.e., catching and digesting the insects for their nitrogen supply eg. Nepenthes, Sarracenia, Drosera etc. These plants absorb the minerals and water from the soil. Since they are autotrophic there fore synthesize the carbohydrates by photosynthesis and the potassium is absorbed from the soil.
