    In gyandromorphs

    A)  some cells of body contain XX and some cells with genotype XY

    B)  all cells have XX genotype

    C)  all cells have XY genotype

    D)  all cells with genotype XXY

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Gynandromorphs are sex mosaic having separate male and female part or tissue in the same body. Gynandromorphs result due to loss of an X-chromosome in a particular cell during development. In gynandromorph out of two celled proembryo, one cell has 2A + XX chromosomal composition while other has 2A+X. These are commonly seen in fruitfly, bees and moths. Availability of gynandromorphs and their cytological examination suggested that Y-chromosome does not play any role in determination of sex in Drosophila.
