The displacement of progressive wave along y-axis is described by the equation \[y-5sin(60\text{ }t+2x).\] Here x,y are in metres and t is in seconds. The wave represented by this equation has :

    A)  frequency equal to \[\frac{15}{\pi }Hz\]

    B)  velocity equals to 30 m/s along -ve direction

    C)  time period of oscillation equal to \[\frac{\pi }{15}s\]

    D)  wavelength equal to \[2\pi \]metres

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                                                                          Given equation may be written as \[y=5\sin 60\left( t+\frac{x}{30} \right)\]                  ...(i) The standard equation is \[y=a\sin \omega \left( t-\frac{x}{\upsilon } \right)\]             ...(ii) Now, comparing equation (i) and (ii) we have \[\frac{x}{30}=-\frac{x}{\upsilon }\] or        \[\upsilon =-30m/s\]
