What happens if \[CC{{l}_{4}}\] is treated with \[AgN{{O}_{3}}\]?

    A)  A white ppt. of \[AgCl\] will form

    B)  \[N{{O}_{2}}\] will be evolved

    C)  \[CC{{l}_{4}}\] will dissolve in \[AgN{{O}_{3}}\]

    D)  Nothing will happen

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

\[CC{{l}_{4}}\] is a co-valent compound, therefore, it does not ionize to give \[C{{l}^{-}}\] ions and hence, it does not give white ppt. of \[AgCl\] when treated with \[AgN{{O}_{3}}\] solution. There is no reaction to evolve \[N{{O}_{2}}\].\[CC{{l}_{4}}\] will form a separate layer as it is immiscible with water.
