Glyoxysomes are akin to peroxisomes. These contain specific enzymes which convert

    A)  protein into peptones

    B)  fats into fatty acids

    C)  fats into sugars

    D)  glucose into \[C{{O}_{2}}\] and \[{{H}_{2}}O\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Recent biochemical studies have distingished two types   of   micro bodies   peroxisomes   and glyoxysomes. These two organelles differ both in their enzyme complement and type of tissue in which they are present. Before recent studies they organelles are considered akin to each other. Glyoxysomes are found to occur in cells of yeast and Neurospora and oil rich seed of many higher plants and resemble to peroxisomes in morphological details except that their crystalloid core consist of dense rods of 6.0 diameter. They have enzyme for fatty acids metabolism and glucogenesis, e.g., conversion of stored lipid molecule of spherosomes of germinating seats into   A the molecule of carbohydrates.
