On a certain hill station, pure water is found to boil at \[{{95}^{o}}C\]. How many grams of \[NaCl\] must be added to 2 kg of water so that it boil at \[{{100}^{o}}C\]?

    A)  \[125.0g\]

    B)  \[206.85\text{ }g\]

    C)  \[346.70\text{ }g\]

    D)  \[562.42\text{ }g\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

                    \[\Delta {{T}_{b}}=100-95={{5}^{o}}\] \[\because \]     \[\Delta {{T}_{b}}=i{{K}_{b}}m\] or            \[m=\frac{\Delta {{T}_{b}}}{i{{K}_{b}}}=\frac{5}{2\times 0.52}=4.807\] 1000 g solution contain = 4.807 mol \[NaCl\]                                 \[=4.807\times 58.5g\,NaCl\] \[\therefore \] 2000 g solution will contain                 \[=\frac{4.807\times 58.5\times 2000}{1000}\]                 \[=562.42g\,NaCl\]
