    If the points (1, 0, 3),\[(-1,\text{ }3,\text{ }4),\](1, 2,1) and (k, 2, 5) are coplanar, then k is equal to:

    A)  1

    B)  2

    C)  0

    D)         \[-1\]

    E)  \[-2\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Points, \[(1,0,3),(-1,3,4),(1,2,1)\] and (k, 2, 5) will all lie on a plane, if\[k=-1\]. \[\because \]Equation of plane passing through (1, 0, 3) is \[a(x-1)+b(y-0)+c(z-3)=0\]                           .... (i) Also\[(-1,3,4),(1,2,1)\] lies on (i) \[\therefore \]plane is   \[2x+y+z=5\] And point (k, 2, 5) will lie on it, if\[k=-1\].
