The centroid of a triangle is (2, 7) and two of its vertices are (4, 8) and\[(-2,6)\]. The third vertex is:

    A)  (0, 0)

    B)         (4, 7)

    C)         (7, 4)

    D)         (7, 7)

    E)         (4, 4)

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Let \[(\alpha ,\beta )\]be the co-ordinate of third vertex \[\therefore \]  \[2=\frac{4-2+\alpha }{3}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[\alpha =4\] and       \[7=\frac{8+6+\beta }{3}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[\beta =7\] \[\therefore \]Co-ordinate of third vertex is (7, 7).
