    Solution :

    Fringe width \[\beta =\frac{2\lambda }{2d}\]      (for air)                 ... (i) When entire arrangement is placed in a liquid of refractive index n, then it becomes                 \[\beta =\frac{D\lambda }{2d}\]                                               ?. (ii) \[As,\,\,n=\frac{\lambda }{\lambda }\] so, from eq. (i) and (ii)                 \[\frac{\beta }{\beta }=\frac{D\lambda }{2d}\times \frac{2d}{D\lambda }\Rightarrow \beta =\frac{\beta }{n}\]
