  • question_answer
The carbon-carbon bond length in benzene is

    A)  in between \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{6}}\] and \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{4}}\]

    B)  same as in \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{4}}\]

    C)  in between \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{6}}\] and \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{2}}\]

    D)  in between \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{4}}\] and \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The carbon-carbon bond length in benzene \[(1.39\text{ }\overset{o}{\mathop{A}}\,)\] is between that of \[C-C\,\,(1.54\overset{o}{\mathop{A}}\,)\]and \[C=C\,\,(1.34\overset{o}{\mathop{A}}\,)\] ie, in between that of \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{6}}\] and \[{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{4}}\].
