A sudden change from. anaerobic to aerobic process is called:

    A)  Blackmans law

    B)  Emersons effect

    C)  Chargaff rule

    D)  Pasteur effect

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Under low oxygen concentration a plant may respire aerobically or anaerobically but when concentration of\[{{O}_{2}}\]increases, anaerobic production of \[C{{O}_{2}}\] decreases   and   aerobic production increases thus oxidative phosphorylation    occurs   whereas glycolytic phosphorylation decreases. This inhibition of glycolysis by \[{{O}_{2}}\]concentration was observed by Loius Pasteur hence known as Pasteur effect.
