CET Karnataka Medical CET - Karnataka Medical Solved Paper-2001

  • question_answer
The volume of water to be added to \[100c{{m}^{3}}\]of \[0.5\text{ }N\text{ }{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\] to get decinormal concentration is:

    A)  \[400c{{m}^{3}}\]

    B)  \[500c{{m}^{3}}\]

    C)  \[450c{{m}^{3}}\]

    D)  \[100c{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    To  get  decinormal concentration, suppose the total volume of water =x \[\therefore \] \[100c{{m}^{3}}\times 0.5N=x+0.1N\] \[\therefore \] \[x=\frac{100\times 0.5}{0.1}=500c{{m}^{3}}\] Therefore the volume of water added = Total volume \[-100\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\] \[=500-100=400\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\]
