  • question_answer
30g of Mg and 30g of oxygen are reacted and the residual mixture contains:

    A)  \[45g\]of \[MgO\]and \[15g\]of \[{{O}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[50g\]of \[MgO\] and \[10g\]of \[{{O}_{2}}\]

    C)  \[60g\] of \[MgO\] only

    D)  \[40g\] of \[MgO\] and \[20g\] of \[{{O}_{2}}\].

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    \[Mg\] and oxygen reacts as \[\underset{(48)}{\mathop{\underset{2\times 24}{\mathop{2Mg}}\,}}\,+\underset{(32)}{\mathop{\underset{32}{\mathop{{{O}_{2}}}}\,}}\,\xrightarrow{{}}\underset{(80)}{\mathop{\underset{2\times 40}{\mathop{2MgO}}\,}}\,\] \[48gm\]of \[Mg\] produce \[80gm\]of \[MgO\] \[32gm\]\[\therefore \]\[30gm\] of \[Mg\] produce \[\frac{80\times 30}{48}=50gm.\] \[\because \] \[48gm\]of \[Mg\]reacts with \[32gm\]of oxygen \[\therefore \] \[30gm\]of \[Mg\] reacts with \[\frac{32\times 30}{48}=10gm\]
