  • question_answer
Temperature coefficient of a reaction is 2. When temperature is increased from \[{{30}^{o}}C\]to \[{{100}^{o}}C\], rate of the reaction increases by:

    A)  128 times

    B)  100 times

    C)  500 times

    D)  250 times

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Temperature coefficient \[=\frac{rate\,of\,reaction\,at\,{{35}^{o}}C}{rate\,of\,reaction\,at\,{{25}^{o}}C}=2\] Thus, increase in rate is 2 times, when temperature is increased \[{{10}^{o}}C\]. Hence, by the increase of\[{{70}^{o}}C\]\[{{70}^{o}}C(100-30={{70}^{o}}C)\], the increase in rate will be \[={{(2)}^{7}}\] (\[\because \]  \[{{70}^{o}}=7\times {{10}^{o}}\]) \[=128\]times
