  • question_answer
The volume of water to be added to \[\frac{N}{2}HCl\]to prepare \[500c{{m}^{3}}\]of  solution \[\frac{N}{10}\]is:

    A)  \[450c{{m}^{3}}\]

    B)  \[100c{{m}^{3}}\]

    C)  \[45c{{m}^{3}}\]

    D)  \[400c{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Let, x ml of \[HCl\] are taken, then \[{{N}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}={{N}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}\] \[\frac{1}{2}\times x=\frac{1}{10}\times 500\] \[\frac{1}{2}\times x=\frac{1}{10}\times 500\] \[x=10mL\] Hence, water needed to add \[=500-100=400mL\]
