    First line of defense consists of physical barrier of skin, membranes, friendly micro ogranism etc. Second line of defense consisting of phagocytosis, inflammatory response, antimicrobial   substances. (Interferons, complement properdin etc.) Immunity is the ability of an individual host to resist development of disease even after having recieved infective dose of pathogen with complete virulence. Active natural immunity means a period of sepcific immunity that is frequently observed following a natural infection. Passive natural immunity involves antibodies trasfer from mother to foetus through placenta.
