Which of die following is not an influence of auxins?

    A)  apical dominance

    B)  parthenocarpy

    C)  tropic movements

    D)  bolting

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Gibberellins induce stem elongation in rosette plants (Cabbage, henbone etc.) In these plants just prior to reproductive phase the intemodes elongate enormously causing a marked increase in stem height. This is called bolting. The auxin (IAA) of the terminal bud inhibits the growth of lateral buds. This phenomenon is known as apical dominance. Parthenocarpy can be induced by application of IAA in a paste form to the stigma of a flower or by spraying. Avena curvature test demonstrate the effect of auxins on plant growth (tropic movement).
