The term cytoplasm and nucleoplasm were given by

    A)  Purkinje

    B)  Strasburger

    C)  Brown

    D)  Flemming

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Strasburger coined the terms cytoplasm and nucleoplasm. Cytoplasm occurs around the nucleus and inside the plasma membrane containing various organelles. It is a semisolid material consists of an aqueous, structureless ground substance called cytosol which contains storage products such as glycogen/starch, fats and proteins in colloidal state. Cytoplasm contains organelles like plastid, lysosome, sphaerosome,   peroxisome,   glyoxysomes, mitochondria, ribosomes, centrosome, cilia etc. The movement of cytoplasm in animal cells is called cyclosis. Nucleoplasm is transparent, homogenous, semifluid, colloidal, ground substance present inside the nuclear membrane. It consists of nucleic acid-DNA and RNA, proteins, enzymes like DNA and RNA polymerase, NAD synthetase etc minerals like K, Na, Ca etc and rib nucleoproteins.    The    nucleoplasm maintains the shape of nucleus, formation of spindle proteins and ribosomal subunits.
