  • question_answer
Three moles of \[PC{{l}_{5}}\], three moles of \[PC{{l}_{3}}\] and two moles of \[C{{l}_{2}}\] are taken in a closed vessel. If at equilibrium the vessel has 1.5 moles of \[PC{{l}_{5}}\], the number of moles of \[PC{{l}_{3}}\] present in it is

    A)  \[5\]

    B)  \[3\]

    C)  \[6\]

    D)  \[4.5\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    \[\underset{\begin{smallmatrix}  3mol \\  (3-x)mol \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{PC{{l}_{5}}}}\,\rightleftharpoons \underset{(3+x)mol}{\mathop{\underset{3mol}{\mathop{PC{{l}_{3}}}}\,}}\,+\underset{(2+x)mol\,at\,equlibrium}{\mathop{\underset{2\text{mol}\,\text{intially}}{\mathop{C{{l}_{2}}}}\,}}\,\] \[\because \] \[3-x=1.5\] \[x=1.5\] Number of moles of \[PC{{l}_{3}}=3+x\] \[=3+1.5=4.5\]
