    Lysosomes are produced by

    A)  Golgi complex

    B)  mitochondria

    C)  endoplasmic reticulum

    D) leucoplasts.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

: Lysosomes are small vesicles which are bound by a single membrane and contain hydrolytic enzymes. The precursors of hydrolytic enzymes are synthesized at the rough endoplasmic reticulum and transferred to the Golgi complex where the precursors are changed to enzymes. The enzymes are then packed in larger vesicles which are pinched off from the maturing face of Golgi complex. Golgian vesicles are joined by endosomes to produce lysosome.
